This summer, 20 Center for Global Justice, Human Rights, and the Rule of Law interns are spread across four states and ten countries, going not only with the Gospel, but also with legal training and a passion to see the Lord’s justice carried out on a fallen earth.
Maitte spent her summer interning as a law clerk for Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center. Las Americas Immigrant Advocacy Center is a grassroots, community-based organization working to provide high-quality legal services to low-income immigrants. Las Americas' clients are among some of the most vulnerable immigrants at the center of today's immigration reform debates.
In addition to facing severe economic challenges, many of the immigrants Las America works with are also victims of violence and persecution in their countries of origin. Some have also experienced victimization at the hands of smugglers and opportunists en route to and after arriving in the U.S.
Whether fighting sex trafficking in India and Indonesia, advocating against partial-birth abortion in Europe, advancing the rule of law in Uganda, or securing religious freedom in Bulgaria and South Africa, our interns are making a difference.
